- The voice of the sea is seductive, neverceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul towander in abysses of solitude
- Kate Chopin,
- The Awakening (1899)
Kathe Chopin in her poem turns the Sea into a prestigious hypnotist.
Initially he catches us in his delightful and seductive arms but, when/if we realise that his hug is not vigorous, it's too late.
The image of the sea at first it's hypnotic and mesmerizing; it's such as if the sea is pleading readers to go in this calm and quiet water.
And even without noticing it, we are drawn in the abysses of an oppressive and distressing solitude and it's difficult to return at shore.
